Sara Ramirez is one of the unsung heroines of Latino Hollywood. She’s been doing consistently incredible work portraying Dr. Callie Torres on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy for more than seven years, through all of that character’s ups and downs, and still today she’s the source of one of television’s most powerful personas, an accomplished professional woman, a proud Latina, and a proud gay woman. Se Fija! publisher Angela Ortíz had a short and lovely sit-down with her as she rested her sore feet at a recent ABC media event, and we got a chance to speak with her about Cassie’s situation in the upcoming season and about her continuing work on Disney’s Sofia the First, where she plays Queen Miranda, and even gets to sing now and then (something we don’t get to hear her do nearly often enough–a real tragedy for this Broadway star). We even get to hear about how much she loves to cook and her favorite fruit.
Grey’s Anatomy returns with a special two-hour episode Tuesday, September 26 at 9P on ABC. Find out if Arizona and Callie’s relationship survives or if Richard pulls through. More teasers and hints are here, at ABC.com’s Grey’s Anatomy page.
