“Los Americans” rides the MTA…with a million other Angelenos

When Dennis Leoni (Resurrection Blvd.) conceived and shot Los Americans for Robert Townsend’s production company, it looked like a successful project all the way around. A host of Latino actors and actresses got a chance to flex their artistic muscles in the eight 17-minute episodes (we’re talking quite a list, here, too: Esai Morales (Caprica, Jericho, La Bamba), Lupe Ontiveros (Southland, Family Guy), Raymond Cruz (The Closer, Breaking Bad), Tony Plana (Ugly Betty, 24) and Yvonne Delarosa (Law & Order: LA, How I met Your Mother), to mention just a few.) Created by One Economy (a “global non-profit that uses innovative approaches to deliver the power of technology and information to low-income people”) and on view in its entirety at www.pic.tv, Leoni’s work received a fair amount of positive attention from critics and viewers alike…

…but that, as it turns out, was only the beginning. Because now, over a million daily riders of the Los Angeles Metro bus system can see parts of the series on Transit TV, the network that supplies programming to the onboard screens mounted in the Metro’s 2,000+ busses.

Se Fija attended a recent media event announcing the Transit TV plan, attended by Leoni and many of the stars; we’ll be sharing some of that video soon…but in the meantime, the program starts showing up on September 5, a welcome bits of quality programming for the bus system and a great promotional vehicle for Los Americans. Congrats to everyone!
