Sofía Vergara and Reese Witherspoon Teaming Up for “Don’t Mess with Texas”

Sofía Vergara

Unexpected buddies on the run: it’s a classic movie theme that goes back to The Defiant Ones and reappears with regularity. Now it’s time for two hugely popular female stars–Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara–to try the format on for size. They’ve just announce their co-starring rolls in a their own buddy-action-comedy, Don’t Mess with Texas. It’s a familiar story: “a cop and her prisoner forced to work together when they find themselves being chased by a town of crooked cops.” Guess who plays the cop and who plays the prisoner?

You may have heard of this “Vergara” woman. She is, after all, the highest paid actress on network TV today (Latino or any other ethnicity), is in more commercials that we can count, and is about to appear in Machete Kills and The Smurfs 2. And yes, despite all this, she’s happy to be back on ABC’s Modern Family in the fall.

It’s a shame this poor woman can’t get a gig.
