Mark Consuelos is a Key Player in Amazon’s New Pilot, “Alpha House,” Online Now

Amazon.com announced a few months ago that they were getting into the original content business to further bolster their share of the instant-video market they share with (among many others) Netflix and Hulu. And they were as good as their word: late last week they offered up fourteen different half-hour pilots, both kid shows and grown-up comedies, for everyone to see and vote on.

The quality and cleverness varies widely, and for the most part the target demographic is young and affluent. That’s reflected both in the concepts for the shows and the casting; it is predominantly young and white, with a smattering of people of color…and Mark Consuelos.

Yara Martinez

Consuelos is a key player in what is arguable one of the best of the Amazon offerings, Amazon House, starring John Goodman. He plays a young and randy U.S. Senator who comes to share quarters with three other elected officials, including Goodman, in a wry and deeply cynical take on politics and power in modern-day Washington. Yara Martinez also guest-stars as his lover/PAC Manager, in what could easily become a recurring character if the show is greenlighted. Both of them, by the way, smart and powerful Latino characters…if just the teeniest bit corrupt (like everyone else in DC). All of it is just about what you’d expect from the mind of Garry Trudeau, the legendary creator of Doonsebury.

Here’s the trailer; you can watch the entire show, rate it and leave a comment at no change, no strings, on amazon.com, here.
