“Gangster Squad,” “A Haunted House,” “Copacabana” on DVD this Tuesday

Michael Peña, like Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, and everybody else in this picture, got a pretty raw deal. After much publicity, the release of this ultraviolent crime drama was postponed because of a mass shooting, pushed into the new year and anonymity, and then pulled from theaters almost before it began. Now, without much noise, it appears on DVD. Though the critics called it “superficial” and “uninspired,” the folks that saw it actually seemed to like it. Now’s your chance. Again. Then we have Marlene Forte, Marlon Wayans, Cedric the Entertainer and others, in A Haunted House, a horror spoof from the creators of Scary Movie and “Paranormal Activity” franchise—It was written by Rick Alvarez and Marlon Wayans. And it looks like there’s A Haunted House 2 in the works. And we have an oldie too, Copacabana with Carmen Miranda and Groucho Marx.
