Shakira Carries on (for the moment) on “The Voice”

Christina Milian (c) interviewing Shakira and Usher

The bad news: all of the Latino/Latina performers on NBC’s singing competition The Voice have fallen away (though The Swan Brothers, surprisingly still surviving, are Anglos who both happily speak fluent Spanish at every opportunity), And Shakira’s team is down to a single survivor, who may not make it for more than another week. The good news: Shakira was originally set to replace Christina Aguilera for a single round of shows, but she’s been the biggest success of the new series. In fact, she’s so popular that she’s been set to return as a judge for the Spring ’14 round, after Christina and Celo Greene re-appear in the Fall of 2013.

You can catch the entire Shakira-centric series of The Voice (and early performances by some very impressive Latinas) for free, on hulu.
