Adrienne Bailon joins Loni Love and a group of beautiful and challenging women of color for a new daytime talk alternative
Daytime television has received a makeover with the debut of Fox Networks’ new syndicated talk show, “The Real.” Hosted by Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley, the show (which is currently in the midst of its four-week test run) highlights these five larger-than-life personalities discussing an array of topics ranging from beauty, fashion and relationships.

The Cheetah Girls
Bailon is the Latino in the mix. Born to a Puerto Rican mother and an Ecuadorian father, this thirty-year-old singer/songwriter/actress/dancer/personality started as a founding member and the lead singer of 3LW, and later joined the Disney-created girl group The Cheetah girls, including appearing in the movies with Sabrina Bryan and Raven-Symone. She’s appeared in films like Coach Carter, Buffalo Dreams, and All You’ve Got.

The Real really is different than other daytime talk-fare. For one thing, it’s the first unabashedly ethnic show in that space, with women of color who have no difficulty expressing themselves or their varying—and sometimes clashing–cultures. Host Loni Love told The Huffington Post recently, “We have spirited discussions and disagreements, because we come from different lifestyles. But that’s why I think America is like tagging on to us…we’re all ethnic women. A lot of people were wondering, ‘why isn’t a white women on?’ Well, we felt like we had some women come on the table and we have guests. But it’s just a different type of feeling when it’s all ethnic women.”
The Real began its trial run this week; you can catch it on your local Fox affiliate (check local listings). And here’s a glimpse of Adrienne getting into it–quite happily!–with Tamar Braxton over being friends with your ex’s other girlfriends.
