Cuban American actress/singer/songwriter/host Christina Milian has been visibly absent from the new season of The Voice, where she’s appeared as their “social media reporter” for the last couple of years. But that doesn’t mean she was invisible, or even finished with competition/reality shows. Quite the contrary: until last night, she was one of the flashier competitors herself in this year’s Dancing with the Stars on ABC.
Many were shocked and a few even heartbroken when Christina and her long-time SYTYCD partner Mark Ballas were given their walking (or maybe it’s dancing) papers on the Oct. 14 broadcast. And even though she’s a singer and dancer herself, the contest has been far from a cakewalk. True, in a recent article in Latina, she talked about just how tough it was. She and her partner struggled with the foxtrot (her first ballroom dance challenge) and excelled at salsa, but that didn’t seem bad enough to show her the door.
Ah well. It’s not as if her acting career has gone dormant. She starred with Taye Diggs in a modest romantic comedy Baggage Claim earlier this year, and she’s one of the stars, along with Donald Faison and Alicia Witt, in a family drama for television, Wonderland, debuting in December. And the singer/songwriter side of Christina is hard at work as well; she signed with Li’l Wayne’s “Young Money” music label in early 2012, and is hard at work on her first album for him. When she’s not reporting, acting, dancing her heart out, or being a mom, that is.
You can keep up with her on her rather beautiful very own website, right here.
