Esai Morales has been keeping busy the last couple of years, including a co-starring role in Magic City on the Starz network and a recurring role on Criminal Minds, not to mention his work as an activist and a leader of Latino Hollywood. Now he’s bet to co-star in The Brink, a new pilot for HBO. It’s referred to as “an epic dark comedy focusing on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate and desperate men: U.S. Secretary of State Walter Hollander (Tim Robbins); Alex Coppins (Jack Black), a lowly Foreign Service officer; and Zeke Callahan (Pablo Schreiber), an ace Navy fighter pilot. Morales will play Julian Navarro, the President of the United States.
Apart from The Brink, Morales has recently shown up in Swirl Films’ Teachers, stars as a basketball coach in Robert Townsend’s 2014 theatrical feature Playin’ for Love, and is part of a large Latino cast in Pantelion Film’s La Vida Robot, which also include George Lopez, Steven Michael Quezada, J.R. Villarreal, Carlos Pena, and David del Rio. We’ll see that in 2014, too.
