The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has no Latinos in front of the camera, but it has plenty behind it. Director/producer Guillermo del Toro has been involved with director Peter Jackson on the screenplay of the first Hobbit film, and he’s part of the newest one in the trilogy, too.

The Hobbit films crosses all genres and demographics; it’s destined to be a hit whether you’re Latino or not. Personally speaking, I’m a fan; I’ve got my geek on with this one, and I have a new heroine in the new character Tauriel, played by Canadian actress and Lost veteran Evangeline Lilly.
Se Fija! Was lucky to be part of a two-day Hobbit promotion from Air New Zealand and Warner Bros. who treated us to a taste of “Middle Earth” in all sort of delectable ways. We got to walk through what they called “The Book of New Zealand,” where they merged four of the set pieces from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug with real images of New Zealand. And I have to admit, it was fun!
If you enjoyed the first Hobbit movie, you’ll love The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. With subtle humor and an amazing journey this film reminds us all of why we all loved The Lord of The Rings in the first place. And even better news: there’s more to come!
