Gravity, Twice Born, and the eccentric Pulling Strings all appear on DVD this week
Gravity is getting huge Oscar buzz for director and co-writer (with his son) Alfonso Cuarón. If you didn’t catch it in theaters, you can watch this dizzying and suspenseful survival-in-space drama in the safety of your own home beginning Feb. 25.
Penélope Cruz’ powerful performance in Twice Born deserves some attention as well. She plays a single mother who brings her teenage son to Sarajevo, where his father died in the Bosnian conflict years ago. Experience it yourself on DVD.
…and then there’s Pulling Strings. “After a night of drinking, Rachel, a diplomat working in Mexico City finds her world turned upside down after she’s saved by Alejandro, a Mariachi singer whose visa was rejected the day before “ Director Pedro Pablo Ibarra begins with Issa López’ quicky scripts and brings together a largely Latino cast, including Jaime Camil, Omara Chaparro and many others, and plays with the “Mariachi band.” See what you think when the DVD drops on Feb. 25.
