Not Busy Enough? Jennifer Lopez Signs on for a 13-episode Police Drama, “Shades of Blue”

and Harry Connick Jr.

She’s got American Idol, her own production company, creative work at NuvoTV, her musical career…and now a straight-to-series TV drama beginning in 2015

Clearly Ryan Seacrest and Jennifer Lopez have been doing more than sharing a nosh at the crafts table over at American Idol. NBC has just announced that they’re giving them a 13-episode straight-to-series order for a new drama called Shades of Blue. Jennifer will star; Ryan will produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, JLo will play Harlee McCord, “a single mother and dirty cop who is recruited by the FBI’s anti-corruption task force to go undercover. She faces the moral dilemma of working against the officers in her unit, who all pitch in to help raise her daughter, and redeeming herself for past wrongs.”

How this will affect her ongoing commitment to all her other projects, especially her behind-the-scenes work on NuvoTV, remains to be seen, but there’s some time to work it all out: shooting won’t begin for quite a while, and it won’t appear on NBC until Fall 2015 at the earliest. Still…that’s one busy Latina.
