How many Latino celebrities on Sesame Street? Fifteen! Count them, Fifteen! (One, two, three…)

Spanglishbaby.com reminds us of a wonderful piece of (continuing) history

We should have mentioned this blog a log time ago, but it’s never too late: Ana Flores’ SpanglishBaby  is a colorful, smart, and enlightening blog by a bicultural and bilingual mom who is committed to holding on to her heritage. She makes her home in Los Angeles, where, she says, “traditions from Mexico, El Salvador, the Netherlands and the U.S. are dearly embraced…en español.”

Recently Ana put together a truly wonderful compilation of all the Latino celebrities who have appeared on PBS’ Sesame Street over the years. It’s a stunning list, from Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor to Celia Cruz, Eva Longoria, Jessica Alba, Rico Rodriguez, and on and on…though you can’t beat John Leguizamo sidling up and calling Elmo “playah”…just before he changes into Captain Vegetable.

Check ’em all out here…and put SpanglishBaby on your regular-visit list.
