Alfonso Cuarón teams up with J.J. Abrams for a new fantasy-adventure series for NBC

Alfonso Cuarón who’s done a bit of cinematic fantasizing before in Children of Men and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, has teamed up with master fantasist J.J. Abrams (Lost, and more recently Revolution) to create a new pilot for NBC. The show is about “a girl in possession of a great gift/powers-which will come into their own in seven years-and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down.” Cuarón is co-writing it with Mark Friedman, co-producing it wit Abrams, and directing the pilot. It’s Cuarón’s first foray into American television.
