“Aubrey Plaza is busy,” NPR tells us, with roles in no less than four movies coming out over the next few months. She’s also a Latina who’s proud to talk about her heritage; she even got it integrated into her deadpan “anglo” character April Ludgate on Parks and Recreation. She’s also a consummate marketer, who’s been all over the place promoting her indy Safety Not Guaranteed, where she plays a character an awful lot like April at the beginning, but takes her in a whole new and rather amazing direction. It’s impressed a lot of people, including the judges at the Sundance Film Festival where the quirky romcom won a Screenwriting award and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize.
And she’s just getting started. She’s already slated for three films releasing over the next year: The To Do List with Andy Samberg, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III with Bill Murray and Charlie Sheen, and The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman with Shia LaBeouf. Not to mention at least one more season of PandR.
