Benjamin Bratt to join “Private Practice” This Fall

ABC continues to lead the other nets with Latinos in starring and regular roles all across its schedule…and starting next season, accomplished actor Benjamin Bratt joins the network as the newest star of Private Practic, beginning next season (and apparently shortly after the departure of long-time star Audra McDonald).

Bratt has had one of the more interesting careers in recent years, playing everything from action-adventure to deep drama to broad comedy. And he’s often played characters that aren’t necessarily Latino at all…

He was Rey Curtis on Law and Order, and Juan Obregon in Traffic…but he was also Jim Tisnewski in the short-live military drama E-Ring as well at Catwoman’s and Miss Congeniality’s boyfriend. And most recently he did a very serious turn as The Cleaner as well as super-sexy super-Latino ex-husband to Sofia Vergara in an episode of Modern Family.

His exact role in Private Practice remains to be seen, but it promises to be yet another powerful personality in a show that chock-full of powerful personalities. There seems little doubt that Bratt will be able to hold his own.
