GOYA products approached us to do a fun cooking post for Latino Heritage Month. And I thought, why not, I love to cook!GOYA Logo

In this shorter post I’ll describe the new dish I cooked and the new IMUSA pots that were sent to me. (You can check out my first post on how I got into cooking here.)

I’m not a trained cook, but my love for cooking makes me want to experiment with flavors and techniques to create a tasty meal for my family and friends.granola-mamas-handmade

Here is a special shout out to my friend Wendy Osmundson, who is a fabulous cook, and has taught me a few things over the years. I learn the most from her just by watching her and talking with her about the foods we love to eat and prepare. Check out her granola business here.

imusaOur second dish was black beans and rice, made with Goya Foods and using one of the IMUSA cooking ceramic Caldero pots we got. Along with the pots we received from IMUSA, we got these other products to play with: a skimmer, Bamboo tostonera, Bamboo mortar and pestle, citrus squeezer, bean masher, and can opener. IMUSA is a leading ethnic housewares brand with deep roots in Latin America and the United States. You can check out more of IMUSA products at their website, follow them on Twitter and Instagram too.

I enjoyed the glass cover of the red pot I used for the rice and beans. This dish also included yellow and red roasted peppers, garlic, and shallots cooked with the black beans, grilled chicken cooked in a cast iron fryer and a simple green salad. Enjoy the images. — A.O.
