Cucuy: The Boogeyman is inspired by the indelible legend found in many Latino countries. I grew up calling it The Cucuman (said with a Caribbean accent).
The film has a little of Hitchcock’s Rear Window, a little Halloween, and a few other reminder of other supernatural thrillers, but all-in-all entertaining. Perfect for a Saturday night.
Starring Marisol Nichols (Riverdale) and up and coming Puerto Rican actress Jearnest Corchado (The Blacklist) the movie tells the story of a town hit by a series of unexplainable child abductions. With no witnesses, no evidence, and no discernible connection between the missing children, the local Sheriff, played by Brian Krause (Charmed), has reached a dead end. During a town meeting, a resident inquires, is it possible that the Cucuy has come to Glimmer Peak?
The cast also includes; Bella Stine, Pedro Correa, Jack Erdie, Jossara Jinaro, Alma Martinez, Madison Rojas, Isaac Arellanes, Isabel Gravitt, and Justin Ellings. Written and directed by Peter Sullivan.
The movie is scheduled to premiere exclusively on SyFy on Saturday, October 13th at 7/6P CT. — A.O.
