“Falling Skies” Bares its Latina Soul

Seychelle Gabriel has been part of the alien-invasion cast since the beginning, but she’s finally beginning to shine in Season Two.

The beautiful and slightly mysterious character of Lourdes has been part of the alien resistance since Episode 1 of TNT’s Falling Skies, but frankly she was little more than a workmanlike supporting cast members for the first season.

Not so in Season Two. In the most recent episode, Seychelle’s character is brought to the forefront, and we learn of her Mexican background and the fate of her family. What’s more, another Latino guest star Hector Bucio Jr.–takes center stage in this episode as well, showing up as leader of yet another band of survivors, and showing himself as a capable leader and a proud Latino. An unexpected twist to a show that has come to display surprising depth.

If you’re a cable subscriber, you can catch the episode online here. Link. It’s also available on amazon.com’s “Instant Video” for $1.99.  Click here to view.

Then, as a special bonus, discover Seychelle’s beautiful singing voice in this clip from a few years back, as she sings “Moses” (apologies in advance for the sound quality).
