We can’t believe five seasons have come and gone, but here we are: bidding a fond farewell to the fictional Russo clan of Waverly Place. We have to admit, it’s been a fun ride for everyone involved, especially Selena Gomez, Jake T. Austin, Maria Canals-Barrera and the rest of the cast.
And we’re not the only ones who are sad to see it go. The Wizards of Waverly Place was one of the Disney Channel’s most popular shows, and though it will live on forever in reruns, the series finale means Disney is reaching the end of the rainbow that only new content can supply. But fan needn’t worry: the finale promises to wrap up a lot of plot lines, including an answer to the series-long question, “Who will be the next Wizard?”
It’s coming for the first time on Friday, January 6th, but you’ll have to wait til then for all the much-anticipated reveals. The secrets of this last episode have been kept Top Secret…

We just happened to see an interview with Maria Canals-Barrera over on KTLA’s hugely popular morning show this week, and Maria does drop a few hints about the finale. You can catch that little chat right here.
And it’s not like we’re really saying good-bye. We’ll be seeing plenty of all the stars—heck, most of them already have other projects in the works, some of them even with Disney.
Still, that Selena Gomez is so cute. Can somebody pass the tissues…?
