The creator and star of the online sensation Ylse is having a birthday…and the future looks bright.
We don’t do birthday wishes very often, but Ruth Livier has been a big support of Se Fija! from its earliest days (which weren’t that long ago, we know–we’re just about to celebrate our own first birthday!)…but we did want to reach out and wish her the best.
Ruth is a dynamic and remarkable woman–a performer, a writer, a producer, and a force of nature–as well as the first person–man or woman, of any ethnicity–admitted to the Writer’s Guild of American solely because of her work in online movie-making.
She’s been working hard to raise the funds for a third season of Ylse, her IMAGEN-Award-winning online series about a bright young Latina and her adventures in the Big City. The good news: it’s now in pre-production (though fund-raising continues. Check out the site!). Meanwhile, she’s completed a wide range of other projects, including a couple of episodes of Switched at Birth with Constance Marie, and a new feature film, Climbing Life, that we’ll see in September.
We had a chance to sit down for an intimate and slightly awesome interview with Ruth just a little while ago; we’ll be posting it in its entirety very soon. And if you really miss her, you can watch a repeat of her episode of Mike Judge’s animated series, King of the Hill that she voiced with Danny Trejo. It’s re-showing Saturday June 30 at 10P on the Cartoon Network.
You’ll love the audio visit; she’s as much fun to listen to as she is to watch. And we wish her the best on her special day!
