When first released, this independent film was known as Pocha: Manifest Destiny, and it did the film festival circuit. Now with a new title of Hostile Border, we meet a small-time criminal named Claudia (Veronica Sixtos), who was raised in the U.S., she’s an undocumented immigrant living beyond her means in a twisted version of the American dream. When the FBI arrests her for credit card fraud, Claudia is quickly deported to Mexico. Speaking no Spanish and lost in her foreign “homeland,” she reluctantly takes refuge at her estranged father’s cattle ranch. And that’s when this crime thriller takes off.
Directed by Michael Dwyer and also starring Julio Cedillo, Roberto Urbina, Jorge A. Jimenez, and Jesse Garcia.
