In Theaters for the Holidays, a Little for Everyone

There are no big name Latinos in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues or in The Wolf of Wall Street but they are a few sprinkled throughout both films. But the beautiful photography of The Wolf of Wall Street is by cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto (Argo, Biutiful, Babel, Brokeback Mountain21 Grams). Prieto is Mexican born and has won a few Silver Ariel’s from his homeland and was nominated for an Oscar for Brokeback Mountain—the film is directed by Martin Scorsese, screenplay by Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos) and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

In Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, there’s nothing politically correct in it and at times it’s over the top. But the parts that work, really work. So fans of the original Anchorman will be quite pleased. Starring Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate, Meagan Good, and David Koechner.

Flashback to the 70s dress style

Then there’s Grudge Match, which I didn’t expect much from. Had me laughing out loud. It’s about two ex-boxers, Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone who agree on a re-match after 30 years. And of course, they are both much older and out of shape. And that’s where the laughter ensues. We also find comedian and character actor Joey ‘Coco’ Diaz (The Longest Yard) as the worst trainer you could have.

Also opening wide is American Hustle set in the 70s about some con artists, crooked politicians and even the Mafia. And in the mix of that you’ll find Michael Peña, Louis C.K., Adrian Martinez, along with Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, and Jennifer Lawrence. The film is based on some true occurrences.
