From Golden Boy to Brother Blood in less than a year
Kevin Alejandro has always been as pretty as a politician, and now he gets to play one—a bad one. He was one of the best things about Golden Boy, playing the semi-evil friend of the (mythical) chief of police of New York in last year’s short-lived CBS series of the same name, and now he’s in the middle of an extended–possibly season-long—arc as the most evil alderman in Starling City, “Brother Blood,” in the CW’s Arrow.
Arrow is one of the few bona fide hits on the CW this season and last. Last year the “big bad” was the black archer Merlyn, played by former Torchwood star John Barrowman. This year another DC Comics supervillain, Brother Blood, takes center stage, and that’s Alejandro. “Blood” has infiltrated Starling City as a political leader who’s about making things very tough for the newly reformed hero.
Alejandro also has a theatrical film, Truck Stop, scheduled for release in 2014, and you can still catch his memorable performances in Southland in reruns on TNT, Tuesday nights at 1A. New episodes of Arrow are on display Wednesdays at 8P on the CW, and you can catch all of Season 2 thus far right here, on Hulu.
