Lots of Latino talent in new performances this weekend

Looks like the New Year has actually begun. Not only are new episodes of all the established shows back in force—despite football, basketball and State of the Union interruptions—some brand-new movies and series are starting.

This weekend alone, we’ve got:

Saturday:
¡Q’ Viva! The Chosen begins. All the hype, buzz, and anticipation is behind us. Now the talent search (as opposed to talent competition) show finally arrives, with Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Jamie King traveling the world in a weekly celebration of the wide diversity of Latino cultures and performing arts. It begins 7P on Univision, and someday soon on Fox.

The Pregnancy Project: Alexa Vega, Judy Reyes, and Walter Perez star in a new TV-movie for Lifetime about a brave young high school woman who pretends to be pregnant, and suffers the life-changing rejections, alliances, and isolation that triggers. First showing is Saturday at 8P, and then again at 10P and 12 midnight.

Sunday:
Rosie Perez begins her stint as a regular character voice on The Cleveland Show, part of Fox’ long-time Sunday night “Animation Domination.” Check out the clips here, and catch it Sunday 1/28 at 7:30P on Fox.

John Ortiz is an integral part of HBO’s big new original series Luck, starring (among many others) Dustin Hoffman as a major, sinister force in the world of horseracing.  First appearance: Sunday at 9P on HBO, and about a zillion times thereafter, with new episodes every Sunday night. Check out the details here.
