New Latino Performances Alive and Well on Cable this Summer Sunday

Seychelle Gabriel in Falling Skies

While the broadcast networks are fast asleep (the only Latino in evidence Sunday night is Jose Joaquin Perez as a guest on the returning CBS series, Unforgettable, the cable nets continue to shine with original performances by eleven Latinos in four different shows on three different networks. Not bad for this time of year. Check it out:

David Zayas and Aimee Garcia are among the best things about the final season of Dexter, which–if possible–is darker than ever, Rolando Molina and Laura Patalano guest star at 9P on Showtime.

Steven Bauer may be playing an Israeli instead of a Latino, but he’s smart and powerful and more than a little bit scary on the serious-as-hell Dark Hollywood drama Ray Donovan, starring Liev Schreiber and Jon Voightin a couple of masterful performances, 10P on Showtime.

L-r: Matt Cedeno, Roselyn Sanchez
and Wole Parks Devious Maids

Seychelle Gabriel is a Latina hero of the future (maybe)–a really bad future–in Steven Spielberg’s Falling Skies, TNT’s post-alien-apocalypse series (as opposed to SyFy’s or Fox’s post-alien-apocalypse series). See what the future may hold if we’re really really unlucky, 10P on TNT.

You can get dizzy counting all the beautiful Latinos (female and male) on Devious Maids, Lifetime’s controversial but increasingly popular fantasy about the life of Latinos in Beverly Hills, but gotta catch ’em all: Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem, and Matt Cedeno. And those are just the regulars. There’s a new episode Sunday at 10P on Lifetime.

…and if you missed them the first time around, you could catch Danny Pino in a last-season repeat of Law & Order: SVU at 9P on NBC, or Jon Huertas in a do-over of a key episode of Castle from earlier this season. So brand new or slightly aged…enjoy!
