We got a chance to talk and listen in on Jay Hernandez at the Summer TCA. You can check it out here, just click on the audio box. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Hernandez and his work, below is a snippet of his bio.
“Hernandez had one of those serendipitous experiences that led to his career. While riding an elevator in a high rise in his native Los Angeles, he was approached by a talent manager who suggested he had what it took to have a successful career in Hollywood. Now, Hernandez is noted as one of the few Latino leading men in the entertainment industry, and he has had the honor of working with some of the most in-demand writers, directors, producers and actors of his time.
In 2016 Hernandez starred in two of the biggest summer movies of that year. He portrayed El Diablo in the DC Comic feature Suicide Squad from director David Ayer, which earned over $746 million worldwide. Also, he starred opposite Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell in the R-rated comedy Bad Moms, which grossed over $183 million worldwide. He reprised his role in the sequel A Bad Moms Christmas in 2017. He reunited with director David Ayer and Will Smith on the Netflix crime fantasy Bright, which premiered to a record-breaking 11 million plus viewers within the first three days.”
This Magnum P.I. reboot, is a modern take on the classic series centering on Thomas Magnum (Hernandez), a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. The show also stars: Perdita Weeks (Juliet Higgins), Zachary Knighton (Orville “Rick” Wright), Stephen Hill (Theodore “TC” Calvin), and Tim Kang (Detective Gordon Katsumoto). Magnum P.I. is on CBS, Mondays at 9/8C. — A.O.
