Okay, we always knew our friend Grace Parra was a little nuts, but this is…well, nuts.
Grace’s new web series starts with a weird premise and then just gets weirder. “Young Mexican painter Frida Kahlo has come to America to revolutionize the advertising industry,” it says. “But the spiritually enlightened artist clashes with her cutthroat American colleagues, who don’t take kindly to her unorthodox approach and penchant for self-portraits.” Parra herself plays this alternate-reality version of Kahlo, and it’s an eerie (and bizarre) resemblance. And she’s even attracted indie celebrities like Lisa Loeb to make appearances.
Conceived, written, and starring Grace Parra, directed by Justin Viar, you can watch the first episode of Frida Kahlo, Junior Marketing Exec here, on blip.tv., beginning Tuesday, June 25, and keep a watch on the series as it develops by liking it Fried Kahlo, Marketing Exec on Facebook, here. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
