There’s at least one more Academy Award-level performance for 2013 that’s still in the wings: Oscar Isaac in The Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis
When it comes to Coen Brothers movies, you never really know what to expect, but you know it’s going to be great. It’s no exception this time around, with Inside Llewyn Davis, as it “follows a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates that Greenwich Village folk music scene of 1961.”
And the young singer they’re following is played by Oscar Isaac.
We’ve been following this amazingly talented Latino actor for a long time now, in films like Sucker Punch and For Greater Glory, and now the buzz is that his work as Llewyn Davis is, you should pardon the expression, an Oscar-level performance.
It’s musical as well as dramatic, and it’s under the watchful eye (and ear) of music legend T-Bone Burnett. Burnett’s very happy with the choice, and he’s willing to say so; here he is in a recent interview:
The music has already made a huge impression. NPR streamed the entire sound track for a week (sadly, no longer), but you can still hear Isaac on his impressive live performance below:
Inside Llewyn Davis opens nationwide December 20. More info is available here, on Inside Llewyn Davis’ official web site.
