The documentary on the “famous unknown” filmmaker Pablo Ferro screens Thursday October 10 at the El Capitan in Los Angeles
The 2013 Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival Announces its Opening Night Feature Documentary, Pablo, a Brazil and United States co-production, blends documentary and animation elements to tell the saga of Pablo Ferro, a personal journey that begins in pre-revolutionary Havana and continues through Ferro’s current home in the garage behind his son’s house in L.A. Along the way, we see Ferro at work in Hollywood for more than five decades, including his creation of the iconic trailer campaigns and opening sequences for films such as The Thomas Crown Affair, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Men in Black 3, and Larry Crown.” The film features Jeff Bridges, Angelica Houston, Jon Voight, Andy Garcia, Stan Lee and Beau Bridges.
“I was inspired by Pablo, which led to us honoring Pablo Ferro this year,” said Marlene Dermer, cofounder and executive director/programmer of LALIFF. “He represents and embodies the meaning of the “Gabi,” the Gabriel Figueroa Lifetime Achievement Award, He is a Latin artist who made his mark and contributed to the world of cinema.”
Pablo will be shown at the El Capitan Theatre located at 6838 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles. The event will begin at 6:30pm with a red carpet, followed by the screening at 8:00pm and the opening night gala at 10:00pm.
