Disney’s Tinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast in Blu-ray

Legend_of_the_NeverBeast_Blu-Ray300Tnker Bell2-300This film is less about Tinker Bell (Mae Whitman voice) and more about her mate Fawn, an animal fairy who’s not afraid to break the rules of Pixie Hollow to help an animal in need. An ancient myth of a massive creature sparks the curiosity of Fawn (Ginnifer Goodwin voice)—who must convince her fairy friends especially the lead scout fairie Nyx (Rosario Dawson voice) to risk everything to rescue the NeverBeast.

Director Steve Loter says that the Fawn character reminds him of his young daughter, cause she’s not afraid of any creature big or small. She says all creatures need to be loved and taken care of. And I agree because I liked the Neverbeast.

I thought this Neverbeast was quite entertaining and I know quite a few young kids that will enjoy it. And now it’s on blu-ray/dvd for their home entertaining. Order it now from Amazon.

It was a good evening for all, at the 18th Annual National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) Impact Awards Gala. Roselyn Sanchez (Devious Maids) and Lisa Vidal (Being Mary Jane) were the evening’s masters of ceremonies.

A Romantic Comedy, An Over the Top Telenovela and A Thriller in Theaters

A La MalaA few more film choices in theaters now. Starting with a first for Mexico, releasing the movie A La Mala at home and in the U.S.A. on the same day.

A La Mala is about aspiring actress Maria Laura ‘Mala’ Medina (Aislinn Derbez) whose best friend begs her to flirt with her boyfriend to test his fidelity. And a lucrative new career adventure ensues.

The actors had a great time on set and even love blossomed between the two lead actors (Derbez and Ochmann). Plus there’s a funny cameo between Derbez and her dad, actor Eugenio Derbez.

I liked the characters and found the storyline interesting and well acted. All in all, a fun film to watch.

Directed by Pitipol Ybarra and starring Mauricio Ochmann, Aurora Papile, Luis Arrieta, Daniela Schmidt, and Juan Diego Covarrubias.

Check out the trailer below and the music video of the theme song “Todo Para Ti” by Mexican rock band, Motel.

Ana Maria in Novela Land

Luis Guzmán, Juan Pablo Gamboa, Edy Ganem, Michael Steger and Dyana Ortelli

Michael Steger and Dyana Ortelli

Ana Maria in Novela Land is an over the top comedy and fantasy, with Edy Ganem (Devious Maids) in the lead as Ana Maria. The film also stars Elizabeth Peña in one of her last roles, Luis Guzmán, Sung Kang, Michael Steger, Juan Pablo Gamboa, Jessica Camacho, Nestor Serrano, Pepe Serna, Dyana Ortelli, and Mercedes Mason. Directed by Georgina Garcia Riedel.

EverlySalma Hayek Everly (1)In Everly, Salma Hayek is leading this action packed thriller as a “femme fatale unleashing the ultimate vengeance against a sadistic mob boss and his army of assassins.” It’s always fun and campy to watch Hayek in action films. Also starring Togo Igawa, Hiroyuki Watanabe, Laura Cepeda, and Akie Kotabe. And directed by Joe Lynch.

Audio-Button-200I got a chance to catch up with actor Adrian Martinez. We talked about his upcoming film Focus, his character Farhad and Nicky’s (Will Smith) trusted friend. His great love for movies and being the only (he thinks) Dominican/Nicaraguan in the business. If you know of anyone else, hit him up.

Focus in theaters February 27 with Margot Robbie, Rodrigo Santoro and Gerald McRaney. Listen in on our conversation.

Congratulations to Alejandro González Iñárritu for his Oscars for best director, best original screenplay with Armando Bo, Alexander Dinelaris Jr., and Nicolas Giacobone. And for taking the big winner, best picture for Birdman (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).

And his longtime friend and collaborator Emmanuel “El Chivo” Lubezki won for best cinematography for Birdman.

Birdman150González Iñárritu is best known for his films Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel and Biutiful which was nominated in the category of best foreign film, for 2011. It starred Javier Bardem who was nominated for best actor for the film.

Another interesting note of the evening was that its the second consecutive year that the best director award went to a Mexican-born director; last year being Alfonso Cuarón for Gravity. And Lubezki (Mexican-born) won his second Oscar on his seventh nomination—last year his first win for Gravity.

Watch the acceptance speech in the video below.
