Downsizing has some story issues, at one point it seemed like two films, maybe three. I found the character stories on the other side of the tunnel much more interesting than the affluent side of town.

It lacked some cohesiveness but it still entertained. It had more humor than I expected and Hong Chau steals every scene she is in.

Synopsis: Downsizing imagines what might happen if, as a solution to over-population, Norwegian scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall and propose a 200-year global transition from big to small. People soon realize how much further money goes in a miniaturized world, and with the promise of a better life, everyman Paul Safranek (Matt Damon) and wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in Omaha in order to get small and move to a new downsized community—a choice that triggers life-changing adventures.
Also starring Christoph Walt, Pepe Serna, Rolf Lassgård, Ingjerd Egeberg, Udo Kier, Jason Sudeikis, Neil Patrick Harris, Niecy Nash, Margo Martindale, Laura Dern, and Joaquim de Almeida.

Coconut Milk and the Meatless Monday Campaign
For the past few years we’ve done a few fun-cooking campaigns with Goya Foods and this one is no different.
I created two simple dishes to support a good cause by Goya and the Meatless Monday campaign.
I have a rice con Gandules Verdes (green pigeon peas) cooked in coconut milk and coconut cream plus a habanero, 2 cloves of garlic and salt.
The other is any kind of mix veggies or mushrooms with a white sauce made of raw cashews, raw almonds in coconut cream, salt and pepper. It is a little on the sweet side but tasty. Try them this holiday season.
Goya has partnered with the Meatless Monday campaign to promote Goya’s “Can Do” initiative. For every can of Goya Coconut Milk purchased in November and December, Goya will donate products to Feeding America. The food will then be distributed to families in need at local food banks across the country. The ‘Can Do’ campaign is part of Goya Gives, a national initiative committed to supporting local communities through social and environmental causes. By the end of the year, Goya will donate at least 600,000 pounds of food.

Families got to finish up the year with three animations, the amazing Disney/Pixar’s Coco, Sony’s The Star and the very sweet, Ferdinand. From Blue Sky Studios and Carlos Saldanha, the director of Rio and inspired by the beloved book The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson, Ferdinand is a heartwarming animated comedy adventure with an all-star cast that includes John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, and Anthony Anderson.

We thought the film was very cute. We loved the colors, the characters and the story. I really liked that the filmmakers kept the sensitivity of the book in the film.
