This one has some funny moments, a bit slow in some parts but still a fun film.

Spoiler alert: The cat was unexpected and funny. All in all, it was a fun family film.

The latest in the Warner Bros. Pictures’ LEGO® franchise, The LEGO NINJAGO® movie, the battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their inner power of Spinjitzu.

I froze.

Our son was 6 at the time and all we could do is hold each other and stay close together all day. We checked on family and friends in New York—It was a trying few days.

IT is the Perfect End of Summer Movie!

IT, It Movie, Andrés Muschietti, Andy Muschietti, Seth Grahame Smith, David Katzenberg, Gary Dauberman, Barbara Muschietti, Bill Skarsgård, Stephen KingIT has enough scary moments that didn’t take away from the relationships of the characters. Which were well played by all the young actors in the film, Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip), Sophia Lillis (37), Finn Wolfhard (TV’s Stranger Things), Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chosen Jacobs (TV’s Hawaii Five-0), Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween), and Nicholas Hamilton (Captain Fantastic). Even the actors who played the evil adults were fantastic and scary to watch.

New Line Cinema’s horror thriller IT is directed by Andrés (Andy) Muschietti (Mama), it is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades.

The plot: When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård), whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.

We got to ask a few questions of Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg, Gary Dauberman, Andrés (Andy) Muschietti, and Barbara Muschietti. When asked about the second film, they told us that the script for the second movie is being worked on now, Now listen in on the conversations by clicking on the audio boxes.

One of the things I liked was my brief conversation with Barbara Muschietti, Andrés sister and business partner for two decades. Also producer on this film and she produced and co-wrote the feature film Mama along with Andres and Neil Gross. I asked her how has it been working with her brother on this project? She said, “It was a long time getting it done but it’s always great to have each others back.”

I enjoyed this film so much that now I want to revisit The Goonies and Stand by Me, because IT has the same sensibility that I like. IT is the perfect end of summer film and it is in theaters September 8.

It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve spoken to a filmmaker about his or her project(s), I always find what they have to say interesting.

My latest interview with Steven Molony and Dan Glaser who co-wrote Valley of Bones and Glaser directed it. It’s the biggest project they have worked together on. The film opens in about 300 theaters on September 1.
