Annabelle: Creation Gets Three Thumps Up from Me!

The Conjuring, Annabelle: Creation, David F. Sandberg (Lights Out), Gary Dauberman, Peter Safran, James Wan, Stephanie Sigman (Spectre, Miss Bala), Talitha Bateman (The 5th Wave), Lulu Wilson (upcoming Ouija 2, Deliver Us from Evil), Philippa Anne Coulthard (After the Dark), Grace Fulton (Badland), Lou Lou Safran (The Choice), Samara Lee (Foxcatcher, The Last Witch Hunter), Tayler Buck, Anthony LaPaglia (TV’s Without a Trace), Miranda Otto (Showtime’s Homeland, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy)I usually rate the horror films I see by how many jumps I make during the film, with Annabelle, I had no jumps but I was enthralled in the story and suspense of the film. That was much more enjoyable than being scared out of my head.

I love the casting, liked that it was an international crew, from the director to the actors.

Atomic Blonde is Atomic!

Atomic Blonde, Charlize Theron, David Leitch, John Wick, James McAvoy, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella, Toby JonesCharlize Theron has turned into my favorite action hero. She is so impressive as a badass agent who holds her own against the bad guys in this film.

Charlize Theron and director David Leitch at the Atomic Blonde Los Angeles premiere

Theron did her own stunts for it and it sure paid off. There is so much action in this film it keeps you on your seat. The story plot seems a bit complicated but you can still keep up—watching the film taking place during the Cold War and against the historic backdrop of the Berlin Wall coming down in 1989 added to the film’s mystery even though that had nothing to do with the storyline. The film even has a great 80s soundtrack that took me back.

Fun at the Atomic Blonde Los Angeles premiere

Summary: An undercover MI6 agent (Theron) is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents.

Even though I am not looking for an Atomic Blonde 2, I would like to see the Lorraine Broughton character again.

As a woman it was fun to watch a badass female hold her own. Yes! It gets a 3 thumps up from me.

Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch (John Wick) and also stars James McAvoy, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella, and Toby JonesAtomic Blonde in theaters July 28.

The Emoji Movie is Meh

The Emoji Movie with the beautiful Liu familia Angela Ortíz

The Emoji Movie was probably a great idea on paper—cause even the bright colors to attract kids didn’t work with the audience I was with. My crew was made up of five people, ages 10 to 61 and we all agreed that what was funny wasn’t funny just ironic. We did think that the funniest line in the whole movie was when Poop (Patrick Stewart) chanted, “We are number 2!”

Synopsis: The Emoji Movie unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone’s user. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression–except for Gene (T.J. Miller), an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become “normal” like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak (Anna Faris). Together, they embark on an epic “app-venture” through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the Code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it’s deleted forever.

Yes, we were hoping for more but instead we got a long phone info-commercial—We are sorry.

We did get some fun pictures and video to share.

Other voice talents include, Steven Wright, Christina Aguilera, Sofía Vergara, Jake T. Austin, Maya Rudolph, and Jennifer Coolidge. The movie is in theaters July 28.
