We caught up with actors Anabelle Acosta (Quantico, Ballers) and Chris Redd (Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping, Netflix’s Disjointed), who told us about their roles in Fat Camp and what they have coming up next.
Synopsis: Twenty-something Hutch thinks image is everything. He fronts like a baller and is too spoiled to get a job. But when his mom kicks him out of the house and he’s forced to work at his uncle’s fat camp, he finds himself supervising an offbeat group of husky boys, who ultimately help him grow up.
Starring newcomer Michael Cienfuegos, Mel Rodriguez (Last Man On Earth, Getting On), and Vivica A. Fox (Empire, Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2).
Fat Camp premieres on BET on July 17.
Besson’s New Film is Visually Stunning
Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets is not The Fifth Element or Guardians of the Galaxy.
I know this film was a long awaited passion for director Luc Besson, it is based on the long running French science fiction comics series Valérian (1967-2010), created by writer Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières, which Besson read as a kid.
Valerian is visually stunning to look at—the colors that have been achieved along with the worlds that Besson has created with some impressive CGI makes you want to keep watching and you can see Besson’s eye for details in every scene. Especially the opening sequences and the scene with Rihanna as a shape-shifting entertainer named Bubble.

I like director Luc Besson’s work ethics but the film didn’t do much for me. The film felt long and tedious. I thought some of the dialogue could have been shorter and it tried too hard to be funny—but that’s how I felt. That is why I find it interesting to hear what filmmakers say about their film projects and here you can listen to director Besson and the two lead actors, Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan talk about their experiences on making the film.
Valerian cast
The plot: In the 28th century, Valerian (DeHaan) and Laureline (Delevingne) are a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the Minister of Defense, the two embark on a mission to the astonishing city of Alpha-an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with each other. There is a mystery at the center of Alpha, a dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.
The film also stars Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Kris Wu, Sam Spruell, and Herbie Hancock. Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets is in theaters July 21.
War for the Planet of the Apes, July 14!
Yes, we were looking forward to this film and it didn’t disappoint. This film is really intense and beautiful to watch. There is so much humanity and not from the humans. It was a great investment of my time in watching this film. The whole trilogy was a treat. APES Rule!
The plot: In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

Friends from College premieres globally on Netflix on July 14th.
The plot: A group of friends from Harvard played by Keegan-Michael Key (Ethan), Cobie Smulders (Lisa), Annie Parisse (Sam), Nat Faxon (Nick), Fred Savage (Max) and Jae Suh Park (Marianne) are facing down their forties. With interwoven and oftentimes complicated relationships with one another Friends from College is a comedic exploration of old friendships, former romantic entanglements and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the past.
