I Am Not Your Negro Documentary

I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO PosterAt the time of James Baldwin’s death in 1987, he left behind only thirty completed pages of his manuscript for I Am Not Your Negro. Now, in his new documentary, filmmaker Raoul Peck (Lumumba, Sometimes in April) envisions the book James Baldwin never finished. The result is a radical, up-to-the-minute examination of race in America, using Baldwin’s original words and flood of rich archival material. I Am Not Your Negro is a journey into black history that connects the past of the Civil Rights movement to the present of Black Lives Matter.

Sing, Garth Jennings, Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Nick Kroll, Jennifer Saunders, Peter Serafinowicz, Leslie Jones, Jay Pharoah, Nick Offerman, Beck BennettThey are quite a few films being released today and here are two that we really liked.

Sing
We really enjoyed it. It was fun and lively to watch. It kept the kids in the audience attention and I can’t wait to get the soundtrack. Sing is a hit in my book!

Sing is written and directed by Garth Jennings with the voices of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Nick Kroll, Jennifer Saunders, Peter Serafinowicz, Leslie Jones, Jay Pharoah, Nick Offerman, and Beck Bennett. — A.O.

Passengers, Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Sheen (Arthur), Laurence Fishburne (Gus Mancuso), Andy Garcia (Captain Norris)Passengers
Chris Pratt (Jim Preston) is always enjoyable to watch, he hasn’t failed me yet. I liked the film, it had The Martian sensibility, it was humorous and warm hearted, even though I thought I wasn’t going to like the ending just based on the direction it seemed to be going, but I did like the way they tied things up.

Go see it! Pratt will put a smile on your face and Jennifer Lawrence (Aurora Lane) is good too.

Also starring Michael Sheen (Arthur), Laurence Fishburne (Gus Mancuso), and Andy Garcia (Captain Norris).

A date film for sure for the sci-fi romantics. — A.O.
