The fourth film in the hugely successful “found footage” horror franchise takes a surprisingly Latino turn
It’s no secret that Latinos, as a group, are big fans of the horror genre, but it’s still rare that horror movie producers get that message and actually respond. That seems to be the case when it comes to the Paranormal Activity series and is most recent entry, The Marked Ones.

Paranormal Activity has been an almost unrelentingly suburban Anglo product since its beginning in 2007. But now, with The Marked Ones a new storyline is introduced–one in which Latino culture and characters play a major role. In it, a new character, Jesse is ‘marked’ and pursued by demonic forces, while his friends and family try to save him. Jesse is played by up-and-coming actor Andrew Jacobs, a Latino native of the MacArhtur Park in Los Angeles, and Latinos make up the bulk of his friends as well (not to mention a couple of coven witches). The cast includes, the very entertaining Jorge Diaz, Renee Victor, Gabrielle Walsh, Richard Cabral, Carlos Pratt, Gloria Sandoval, and many more.
How does this all connect to the twisted continuing story of the earlier films in the series? Be patient our sources say the tie-in comes in the last few minutes of the film.
