The Gucci house of fashion is a multi-generational dynasty; so is the Ridley Scott movie-directing family. Now the two just might be coming together, with Penélope Cruz in the middle. She’s in talks to play the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of the founder of the fashion line and heir to the empire, who was gunned down in 1995…by that selfsame ex-wife.
DealCentral.com says the project’s been floating around for years. More than five years back, Ridley Scott was set to direct, and Angelina Jolie was set as the murderous spouse. As so many projects do, that one kind’a fell apart, but now Ridley’s daughter Jordan Scott is slated to direct the revived product from a brand-new script…and Cruz is top of the casting list.
It’s all still talk, but it could be a heck of a role for Cruz.
