Raoul Trujillo is a dangerous-looking dude under any circumstances, but this impressive–even scary–Latino actor seems to have carved out a special mini-niche of his own: appearing in SyFy mini-series about mythical places.
Yes, he’s done a few other things over the last twenty years or so–everything from Into the West to Apocalypto, as it happens–but he’s become most recognized for his last two roles–first in SyFy’s retelling of the Oz story, Tin Man, and now has “The Holy Man,” the guardian of the secret to eternal youth, in SyFy’s new prequel to Peter Pan Neverland. The miniseries premieres December 4 at 9P and finishes up the next night December 5 also at 9P.
Trujillo’s biography reads like a fantasy story almost as odd as the ones he’s a part of. And though we rarely quote our sources verbatim–we are journalists, after all–sometimes it’s irresistible. Because Trujillo’s bio on Imdb sounds just like a new version of “The Most Interesting Man in the World” commercial that a certain beer company has been running. Check it out:
His trademark is playing mythic badass tattooed warriors.
He breeds and raises Freesians, Gypsy, Appaloosas, Arabian and Tennessee Walkers on his ranch.
He is a deadly snow shoer.
He was an aerialist and stilt-walker in the early years at Burning Man.
He has circumnavigated the globe twice.
His personal quote: “If you’re not living on the edge, you’re in the way.”
Whoa. Very impressive.
