All eyes were on ¡Rob! this week to see how much of its impressive audience for last week’s premiere would return for Episode 2. The numbers aren’t bad: a 12% drop-off from last week, which isn’t bad at all, though it’s going to have to go a few more weeks of no-additional-losses to lock down a renewal for the 2012-13 season.
The show itself seemed a little less addicted to stereotypes–more just straight slapstick this time around–though Lupe Ontiveros remains horribly underutilized. C’mon, you guys!
Jorge Garcia in Alcatraz, a sprawling plot and a huge cast–this is J.J.Abrams, after all–pleased a lot of people with its two-hour premiere on Fox this week. Its 3.3 rating was a full 33% better than the last show that premiered in that position (The Chicago Code, if anyone’s interested), and actually gave Fox the best numbers in that time slot in three years, since January ’09 and Lie to Me, pushing the network to #2 for the night, right behind CBS and the apparently unbreakable Two and a Half Men. Here’s hoping the numbers stay good.
And Switched at Birth on ABC Family continues to be one of the cable net’s most popular original dramas (right up there with Pretty Little Liars), displaying awesome numbers with women of just about every age group, and maintaining them as it continues to soar into the second half of its first season (and it’s already been renewed for Season 2).
