We know Saray Deiseill from her wonderful documentary, American DREAMers, which she co-directed with writer Jenniffer Castillo. Now she has another project she believes in, a web series called Entanglement. It is about relationships, and it sounds really smart.
Saray Deiseil has worked on various scripted television comedies and dramas for about ten years, providing her with extensive knowledge and experience in all stages of production and post-production. On this project, she’s not only directing, she’s writing. The following is a synopsis of the web-series:
Set in a fast paced world where millions of helpless single Angelenos turn to online dating apps and blind date setups to find their perfect match, we meet BEN and EVIE. Both are approaching their mid-thirties, in a love crisis, and cosmically entangled.
Deiseill told us she has surrounded herself with an “incredible group of female writers for this project, such as Jasheika James and Janeika James (Revenge, Empire), Gladys Rodriguez (Sons of Anarchy, Star), Kate Sargeant Curtis (CSI: Cyber, NCIS: New Orleans) and her producing partner, Jenniffer Castillo (Black Sails) to name a few. Also, I want this opportunity to embrace diversity fully by casting ethnically diverse actors.” Entanglement stars Michelle Lukes (Chinese Brit) from Cinemax’s Strike Back, Johan Luis (Puerto Rican/Persian) and Valery Ortiz (Puerto Rican) from VHI’s hit The Floor.
The best part for me was spending a little time talking with Saray and her lead actress, Michelle Lukes (Evie) about making the pilot and raising the money to do it, among other subjects.
Here’s a little about Lukes: she’s best known for playing series regular Sgt. Julia Richmond in the HBO/Sky production Strike Back, Lisa Torres in the BBC drama Doctors, and her voice and image were recently used for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, where she plays the much-loved role of Kelly.
