Seth McFarlane Sells “Bodertown” to Fox

Seth MacFarlane

A new animated series about Anglo-Latino race relations from the creator of The Family Guy? Okay, this could be…interesting.

Fox announced on November 8 that the network has given a 13-episode order to Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane and Mark Hentemann for a new animated series, Bordertown And the synopsis indicates it could be a wonderful–or an awful–idea.

“Set in a fictitious desert town near the Mexico border, Bordertown, centers on the intertwining daily lives of two neighbors, Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzales,” the release tells us. “Bud, a married father of three, is a Border Patrol agent who’s come to feel threatened by the cultural changes in his neighborhood. Next door lives Ernesto, a Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is proud to be making it in America. Naturally, their paths will begin to cross and hijinks will ensue.”

So are we talking gentle poke-in-the-side humor like Mike Judge’s King of the Hill, or my biting and inflammatory stuff like MacFarlane’s own Family Guy? Good question.

It’s far too early to know anything about voice-casting or the actual style of the show.
