Steve Gaub is a producer and production manager, known for Oblivion (2013), TRON: Legacy (2010) and Terminator Salvation (2009). Now include the live-action film, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The live-action film has surpassed the animation version in both domestic and worldwide earnings. Which of course has Disney looking towards the future for other films in the live-action realm.
We got to talk to visual effect producer Gaub about his work on this version of Beauty and the Beast. I asked him about what kind of challenges he encountered bringing this classic to live, “it was a little daunting, but they really wanted to stick to this feeling like a normal movie—live action movie with no animation characters—didn’t want it to come across as cartoon characters.” he said.
You can listen to the audio (a little scrachy) but he had a lot to say and I think it was informative.
