The 27th Annual Imagen Awards has come and gone

“Somos Latinos” was the theme of The 27th Annual Imagen Awards (Spanish for image), and the opening segment of the taped portion of the show, had a good representation of just how diverse and exciting the Latino community in the U.S.A. can be.

But the thing about awards shows: you never really know what to expect. They can be lots of fun, they always bring us surprises and disappointments…and they are always, always too long.

The Imagens filled the bill in all respects. Sundance darling Gina Rodriguez (Go for It!, Filly Brown) was the evening’s host, and she kept the room alert and involved with her wit and dancing style. Rodriguez is a very talented actress with lots happening in her young career; you need to keep an eye on this one. (Which was hard not to do in that red dress!)

The room was filled with Latino pride. It’s clear on the faces of all our old and new friends.

And for all the noise and heat–another thing the Imagens have in common with every awards show–it’s still great fun to capture the evening in pictures.

I hope you’ll enjoy them along with the list of the evening’s winners.
