The Hot, Hot Summer of Adam Rodriguez

Adam Rodriguez

Young, handsome, hardbodied, and in demand. It could be worse.

We all felt terrible when the cancellation of CSI: Miami reduced CBS’ Latino actor-contingent by two-thirds all by itself, particularly because we wouldn’t be seeing Adam Rodriguez on a weekly basis.

We shouldn’t have worried. Adam is a man in demand: he actually turned down a (small) part in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises for a much larger role in Stephen Soderberg’s new movie, Magic Mike, where Adam plays a male stripper, alongside Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey and Matt Bonner of White Collar, among far too many other beautiful men (oh, and Olivia Munn. One for the boys.)

It may seem strange to pass on even a small part in what will probably be the second-biggest movie of the summer (after the juggernaut Avengers). But Rodriguez told Celebuzz that it was that old bugaboo, scheduling conflicts. “There was no way around it. I’m sure it would have been an incredible experience, but I know it worked out for the best.”

Rodriguez said that he was drawn to the Magic Mike script because it had an “edge without taking itself too seriously and humor without making an ass of itself.” A small miracle in summer movieland.

We’ll be able to see for ourselves soon; Magic Mike will be shakin’ it in a theater near you next week, on June 29. Meanwhile, here’s a chance to watch Adam in all his ripped, too-tight-tee-shirt glory on a recent episode of The Doctors. (You know it’s about doctors, ‘cause the hosts wear things like scrubs and white coats.) Enjoy the salaciousness…
