The bitter, funny writer/producer/actor/comedian may have been pretty much bitch-slapped at the Emmies this year, but FX loves him more than ever with a lucrative new development deal.
As Deadline.com tells us, FX Networks very much wants to keep Louis C.K. as part of the family. FX Networks is making it clear it wants to stay in the Louis C.K. business. The network is already home to Louie, his much-nominated comedy. And now FX Productions has signed an overall deal with Louis C.K. and his company Pig Newton (you have to love that name!) to develop and produce new series, completely separate from Louie. According to the deal, the new series will be created and exec-produced by Louis, and he reserves the right to direct to write and direct any of the episodes he likes as well. That’s not exactly new territory for him; he’s written, directed, and even edited his own series already.
“Working with Louis C.K. has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my career,” said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions. “So many incredibly talented artists want to work with Louis and follow down the independent and idiosyncratic creative trail he has blazed. I can’t wait to see who he brings through our door, not to mention any new projects that he wants to create for us.”
Louie returns for Season Four in May, 2014.
