It had a slow start last week, but now–finally!—The Fall 2011 TV Season is really taking off, with an even dozen series featuring Latinos in regular roles premiering this week alone.
Monday, 9/19:
Jon Huertas and the entire Castle (minus Ruben Santiago-Jones, who betrayed them all and died for it last season!) returns with the season premiere, Monday night at 10P on ABC.
Eddie Cibrian is at his most suave and sophisticated in The Playboy Club, opening its 1960ish doors for the first time tonight, 10P on NBC.
Tuesday, September 20
ALMA Award Winner Cote de Pablo returns in the season premiere of NCIS, 8P Tuesday on CBS.
Glee is back, with another ALMA Award Winner Naya Rivera dancing and singing her heart out as usual in front of the camera, and new exec producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa working behind the scenes!
Meanwhile Sarah Ramos continues on Parenthood (10P on NBC) and Nestor Carbonell can be seen still trying to puzzle out the mixed-up twins problems on Sarah Michelle Geller’s Ringer (8P on the CW).
Wednesday, September 21
What a night! A total of five programs (one a reality show) feature Latinos on Wednesday. H8R with Mario Lopez as host has already launched at 8P on the CW, and you can still glimpse Al Madrigal in the supporting cast of Free Agents on NBC at 8:30P.
But here are the premieres:
Sofia Vergara and Rico Rodriguez is still the best thing about Modern Family, returning for a new season tonight at 9P on ABC.
Karen Olivo is a new cast member of Harry’s Law at 9P on NBC, also re-starting tonight…and with Alfred Molina also in attendance, in the first of a three-episode arc.
And Danny Pino, who can’t help being a cop, joins the squad of the last remaining L&O, Law and Order: SVU, beginning its new season on 10P on NBC.
Thursday, September 22
Another full night of Latino involvement, with a total of seven shows on view, most of them premiering tonight. In fact all three primetime programs on ABC and NBC feature Latinos in their casts tonight.
The new Charlie’s Angels reboot premieres tonight, with Ramon Rodriguez as the new Bosley at 8P on ABC.
Opposite that, on NBC, newcomer Mel Rodriguez becomes a regular on the slightly askew comedy Community, also at 8P.
At 9P, Sara Ramirez is still doctoring away with the best of ’em on Grey’s Anatomy on ABC.
Also at 9P, Oscar Nuñez labors away as thanklessly as ever as one of the few sane people in The Office, over on NBC.
At 10P, Kirk Acevedo and Elizabeth Rodriguez are part of Maria Bello’s team on the American remake of Prime Suspect, 10P on NBC. (And next week, Benjamin Bratt joins ABC’s Private Practice opposite PS. Watch for it!)
