Wilmer Valderrama Joins “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series”

Wilmer Valderrama

There’s been a lot of talk about the first ‘big show’ for Robert Rodriguez’ new network, El Rey, and now a third Latino has joined the project in front of the camera.

Wilmer Valderrama is one busy guy. He co-starred in the short-lived, well-respected Awake on NBC last year, did an arc on Fox’ Raising Hope, appeared in a couple of hilarious episodes of ABC’s Suburgatory, wrote and directed a short called Sky Blue: Salud, and has worked tirelessly as an activist–so much so, he was awarded an ALMA for his dedication. And now he’ll be a series regular in Robert Rodriguez From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, one of the first offerings to appear on Rodriguez’ new cable network, El Rey, early in 2014. He’ll be playing “Carlos Madrigal, the master villain and crime lord who is a former Spanish Conquistador.”

FDTD:TS is building up a significant Latino contingent. Jesse Garcia was announced some time ago as one of the co-stars, and more recently Mexican beauty Eiza Gonzalez was added to the regulars as the wonderfully named “Santánico Pandemonium,” the vampiric seductress played memorably (and briefly) by Salma Hayek in the original 1996 film.

The series has been green-lighted for ten episodes; Rodriguez himself is slated to direct the first two installments, scheduled to appear sometime in the first quarter of 2014.
