Zoë Saldaña never fails to…inspire? Is that the right word? In this clip from The Words, opening Friday Sept. 7, Bradley Cooper is the center of her attention, and we just get to watch. And it’s a pleasure, as always.
Saldaña has fully come into her own: she and Cooper (she plays his wife) are prominent on the beautifully designed poster for the movie–a drama about a best-selling novelist who steals his most popular work. And that prominence trumps the presence of beautiful women like Olivia Wilde and highly popular faces like Dennis Quaid.
One thing’s for sure: she’s a busy woman. This may be her first appearance since Colombiana, but it will be far from her last. She’s scheduled to star in at least four films releasing in 2013, including Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale and Blood Ties with Clive Owen and Mila Kunis, not to mention her reprise of the role of Uhura in Star Trek 2 and her starring role as Nina Simone herself in Nina.
The on-screen chemistry between Saldaña and Cooper may not be entirely the produce of their expert acting skills. They’ve been an item in real life for quite a while now, despite a well-publicized but temporary split. PopSugarrecently quoted Cooper as saying that their personal relationship made the one-screen work even better. “She brought so much to the movie and a depth to it that we didn’t really bargain for. The movie became very romantic” and “much deeper.”
